Know your photographer
Hello and welcome to Piamony Photography. I am Neena Majumdar, an artist, ex-biomedical researcher, photographer, and mom. I established Piamony Photography in 2013 to capture your most meaningful moments and tell your story authentically. My relationship with creativity dates back to growing up in India. Drawing, painting, and poetry were an integral part of my childhood. But it was my love for science that took me to the US. While solving questions related to Cancer and Diabetes, I deeply missed art and creativity.
In 2012, I joined the Chicago Photography Academy as I had always liked clicking pictures. Finally, I quit my scientific career of 13 years and decided to go full-time. Today, I stay in the Netherlands with my family and work as a portrait photographer and mentor. Over the years, I have worked with Canva, IIT Bombay, Mojo Bars, Indian Women's Association USA, Asha for Education, and Photowalks Mumbai.

A lot of my work is inspired by my interest in fine art and poetry. Creating interesting compositions and representing the authentic emotion of the moment are the hallmarks of my work. It resonates well with creative professionals, such as actors, models, musicians, artists, and passionate entrepreneurs. I have also worked with communities and social workers to showcase positive change in tribal areas in India. My visual storytelling about quality education brought about by social workers in the villages around Varanasi was featured on the BBC network. I have also worked with the Electrical engineering department of IIT Bombay for their socio-economic projects linked with easy access to connectivity in the remote villages of Jawhar, Maharashtra.
Besides making pictures, I enjoy mentoring and inspiring the next generation of photographers through workshops and internship programs. I feel the happiest when I am in the moment, be it behind the camera, working on my images, teaching a group of curious photographers, writing in my journal, cooking, or painting. I am a mom who loves making jokes, dancing with her daughter, and doing impressions. I am that friend and partner, who loves long meaningful conversations, and exploring new places and cultures together. I believe that the ultimate freedom lies in embracing the "now" without regretting the past or overthinking about the future. And what better way to be in the moment than photography?
