Hello! I am Neena Majumdar, an artist, ex-biologist, photographer, and mom. I am here to inspire creativity and freedom. My relationship with creativity dates back to growing up in Chandigarh, India. My sister and I would paint all night during the summer vacations and days were spent filling up journal pages with poetry and fashion sketches. But it was my love for Biology that took me to the US.
While solving questions related to Cancer and Diabetes, I deeply missed art and creativity. In 2012, I joined the Chicago Photography Academy as I had always liked clicking pictures. Soon most of my hours outside the lab were spent behind the camera. Finally, in 2015, I quit my scientific career of 13 years and took the decision of going full-time. Today, I stay in Mumbai, India with my family and work as a portrait photographer and educator.
A lot of my work is inspired by my interest in fine art and poetry, thus leading to minimalistic compositions that represent the authentic mood and emotion of the moment. Therefore, many creative professionals, such as the likes of Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan fame, Jitendra Kumar, and entrepreneurs such as Mojo Bars (Pure Snacks Pvt. Ltd.) appreciate my style and approach me for my photography services. My accurate portrayal of striving communities for Asha for Education also led to a feature in the BBC network.
I believe life is more meaningful with the pursuit of creativity and freedom. I feel the happiest when I am passionate about whatever I do, be it writing in my journal, cooking, painting, or taking pictures. I am a crazy mom who loves making mildly funny jokes, dancing with my daughter, and doing impressions. I am that buddy to my husband, who loves long meaningful conversations. I believe that the ultimate freedom lies in being in the moment when you are trying to savour life and appreciate this amazing world. And what better way to do that than photography!
