ART OF JAWHAR

The villages of Jawhar are laced with art, music, handicrafts, farm-to-table food and the culture of the Warli tribe that resides here. I got the opportunity to document this artistic and creative community. Traditional Warli art, papier mache masks, and handmade musical instruments made with sustainable natural materials show the indigenousness of the locals. Life is slow here but surely full of colour and aesthetics. Some artists do it as a hobby, along with farming and some have been doing it for generations, for example, the Warli artists. So art is their only source of living. The authenticity and culture are reflected in the narrative of the Warli paintings and their songs, that tell a story.
