DADAR FLOWER MARKET
The most visually rich and aromatic part of the Bombay Nights tour by Yash Sheth was our stop at the Dadar Flower Market. We waited at the station for the next train to Dadar at 4 am, after finishing tiny paper cups of cutting chai. Dadar Flower Market welcomed us into the business of wholesale flowers, with its hustle and hard work. Half-opened eyes made sure all the flower consignments reached their appropriate sellers. Daily wagers worked with sweat and gusto carrying heavy loads, some napping for breaks and others getting woken up violently by their contractors. It was surely a colourful market with harsh realities of life. The flowers sacrificed their life-cycle, the workers their sleep cycle and we just sacrificed one night of sleep to document this floral splendour.
