Gudi Padwa is one of the major festivals of Maharashtra. It is a celebration of the beginning of spring and the Maharashtrian New Year. I attended the Mumbai Girgaon Shobha Yatra (procession) in 2022 as one of the official photographers. I documented the dance, music and culture of Maharashtra. Men, women and children showcased their traditional attires with pride and galore. But the true stars of the show were the women bikers and drummers. The celebratory energy could be felt in the air and the ground shook with the beats of the drums and the humdrum of countless motorbikes.
